Intro to ecology project

Written by:

This was just an ordinary final project from my elective Intro to ecology class. but it wasn’t typical for me. When I was in middle school, my dream job was to become a fashion designer. However , after entering high school, I had a strong interest in STEM, and that dream slowly faded away.

Then, this class got my attention because I’ve always been passionate about the environment, so I decided to join. Unexpectedly, there were only three students in the class, including me! Anyway, my final project was to use discarded materials and upcycle them into clothing for the mannequin, combining creativity with sustainability.

These are my amazing projects:

-> I used melon coverage vinyl to make the hat look like a giant feather crown. I also used some of my socks to create the top part of the outfit, and rubber gloves to make the separated sleeves and layered skirts.

–> I used the same rubber gloves to outline the dress and covered them with vinyl to add texture. I also made an accessory, a belt, using a sparkling water bottle that I colored with a marker.

-> lastly, I cut my mom’s apron, which was over 20 years old and no longer used, and turned it into a tank top. Then I cut the same rubber gloves to create a leather-like long skirt, adding some straws around the waist for color and decoration.
