This competition was a business competition focused on coming up with innovative ideas that could change for the brighter future. I collaborated with a friend majoring in business, while I took part in biochemistry. .For our project, we decided to create a home self-detection kit for breast cancer.
Since covid 19 had recently faded away, we thought of replacing covid 19 to a more serious condition – cancer – would be an inventive item. Our idea was to design a low-cost, time efficient, and a kit that is easy to use , helping to be easily done at home.
Thus, I designed a diagnostic system that could be more affordable and accessible. To strengthen our project, I analyzed medical bills, insurance policies, and hospital pricing to understand why diagnostic procedures were so expensive as well, for comparison and accurate decisions. I also explored cost effective methods such as liquid biopsies and blood based screening tests to find better options.
